There are four hotels on the Isle of Barra, Castlebay Hotel, Craigard Hotel, Heathbank Hotel and the Isle of Barra Hotel. With a variety of locations from East to West, styles from traditional to modern and price ranges to suit all budgets.
Dunard Hostel
Dunard is situated in Castlebay, the Isle of Barra's main village. A few minutes from the ferry terminal, handful of shops, tourist information, bank, post office, cafe and two hotel/pubs. In summer, the air in this sleepy village fills with the sound of fiddles, accordions and bagpipes.
Camping Ground
There are certain areas around the island that are common places for camping where you can wake up to some of the most breath taking views in the country! If camping appeals to you then an appropriate gesture would be to donate £5.00 per tent towards township funds.
Campervan Ground
The last few years on Barra has seen a huge influx of campervans and caravans visiting the island. Alot of these visitors had been setting up camp at the side of the airport beach (Traigh Mhor) however vehicles are not not allowed on these grounds, the comunity councile is working with the townships and local crofters and how to have some new locations avalable for this summber, we will keep you posted.
